SYNmin and SYNplayer

SYNmin and SYNplayer are two associated programs built for the community radio station 90.7 SYN FM, for their first fulltime broadcast and beyond.

These pages host the design, the program, and the documentation.

In the community spirit, the source code is also released to the internet community.

While every effort has been made to make these as stable as possible, I do not provide any warranty or guarantee of any kind. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Feel free to contact me with questions. However, I will only modify or install it for a (minimal) fee. I will also travel if you pay for the fare, food, accommodation, and include a small remuneration.

SYNmin

SYNmin is an administration system for a radio station, it's main aims are to control program media, and to schedule promotional material for the SYNplayer. It also includes a (basic) invoicing system. SYNmin is now migrating to use PEAR and my new technology RetroMod, to manage new users and user sources.

Written in: LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
Tested using: Debian Woody GNU/Linux 3.0, Apache 1.3.26, MySQL 3.23.49, PHP 4

SYNplayer

SYNplayer is a audio media player based on the JMF framework. It has 3 consistently updating lists: for Station IDs, Program Media, and Promotional Media.

Written in: Java 6 and the Java Media Framework
Tested using: Windows NT3.51, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP

To install, you will need:

  1. Java 6
  2. Java Media Framework
  3. Windows Installer
After installation, you need to:
  1. Click Start->All Programs->SYNPlayer and then right click "SYNplayer"
  2. Change the last argument of Target from "C:\Program Files\synplayer\SYNplayer" to "SYNplayer"
  3. Click "Apply"
  4. Open Windows File Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\synplayer
  5. Create a new folder "ScheduledMedia"
  6. Now you can run the application
